CBOS (Public Opinion Research Center) research shows that since last 10 years Germany is still the most popular country for Poles wanted to work abroad.
In terms of average monthly salary, Germany with a 3,7 thousand euros is in the lead of the European Union. And this argument, combined with the location in the immediate vicinity of both states, is encouraging Poles to seek employment in Germany.
Germany the first, UK the second
As far as Germany for 10 years are on the first place in the set of the most popular countries among Polish job searchers, the second place regularly belongs to the UK. Earnings are even higher there. Additionally, more and more Poles are fluent in English. They are attracted by a high standard of living in the UK. Last year 23% Poles earned a salary in pounds.
The next conclusion from CBOS report is that there is one more significant difference between Germany and United Kingdom in respect of this work migration. Well, to work behind the western border Poles are going a few (4-5) times in their lives. In England, Scotland and Wales they usually start only once. And either stay there permanently, or come back and most often do not take another attempt at professional conquest of the Isles.
Third place among the most popular destinations for migration workers was the Netherlands. Last year employed one fifth of Poles working abroad. Only a few years ago our compatriots over the Dutch labor market put up Italian. In 2011, 11% Polish emigrants earned in Italy, in the past year only 5%.
What scale of phenomenon do we speak? According to the Central Statistical Office in 2015, about 2,4 million lived outside our country. The largest number in the UK – 720 thousand, slightly less in Germany – 655 thousand, then huge difference because of 112 thousand in the Netherlands, 111 thousand in Ireland and 94 thousand in Italy, 84 thousand in Norway.
The German labor market is still attractive. Recent statistics show that in Germany there are 44,3 million people employed, almost 700.000 more than a year ago. In the same period there were 171 thousands less unemployed people, who is today more than twice less than 10 years ago. In August this year. Employment increased by 106 thousand, compared to the previous month – says Bartosz Grejner, market analyst Cinkciarz.pl.

German labor market statistics speak a lot about the need to know the language. – The rate of employment among immigrants with basic German knowledge was (according to Destatis data) 52,3 percent. Among people fluent in this language, the percentage is increasing to 77,3 percent. and is already approaching the level of employment of German citizens.
Improving your knowledge of German can significantly increase your chances of finding a more lucrative job. 43% of immigrants who know only the basis of German get the lowest jobs, and only 8,7 percent of them get positions with high professional qualifications. These proportions change with increasing language skills. First-generation immigrants, fluent in German, occupy only 14%. lowest positions, while 30% these are highly qualified.
Although it is generally accepted that a job depends on skill, education and experience, the lack of knowledge of the language can undermine the prospect of satisfactory work, even if the other criteria are fulfilled.
